Bergthal Gemeinde Buch, edited by John Dyck, brings together genealogical and historical records relating to the Bergthaler Mennonite community. The principal section reproduces and annotates the Bergthal church register for 1843–1876, begun at Bergthal in Russia, with family groupings, birth and baptismal information, and, where recorded, deaths, with cross-references between generations and an index of household heads. Also included are indexes to Chortitzer Gemeinde Buch volumes begun in 1878, 1887, and 1907; annotated Quebec passenger lists for Mennonite immigrants arriving between 1874 and 1880; and 1881 Canadian census data for Mennonite communities in Manitoba.
