William James (1870–1944) was an early Saskatchewan photographer whose work documented the life and development of Prince Albert and the surrounding region from the 1890s into the twentieth century.  Over the following decades he operated studios in Prince Albert and other prairie towns. His photographs include documentary views of places and events, studio portraits, panoramas and a small number of stereoscopic images.

William James : Selected Photograps 1900 - 1936.

Published in connection with a travelling exhibition organized by the Mendel Art Gallery in 1986, this catalogue presents a selection of James’s photographs taken between 1900 and 1936. The images document community life, local events, and portraits from Prince Albert and the surrounding area.

Includes essays by archivist Brock Silversides and the curator Grant Arnold.
