Orest Semchishen (b. 1932), born in Mundare, Alberta to a family of Ukrainian descent, spent several decades travelling throughout the province documenting its people, communities, and built environment. His photographic work, focused on rural life and cultural change, has been represented in a number of public collections.

Published in conjunction with a travelling exhibition, this volume presents a selection of Semchishen’s photographs drawn from a larger body of work produced over approximately thirty years. The images record aspects of rural Alberta life.
