Notes

This is a community history of the village of Viscount, located in central Saskatchewan along the Yellowhead Highway between Colonsay and Lanigan. The book was published in 1955 to commemorate Saskatchewan’s fiftieth anniversary during the province’s Golden Jubilee year. Content is presented in a series of brief chapters titled Rural Oldtimers and Village Oldtimers—together profiling eight individuals—followed by sections on History of Early Businesses, Public Utilities, Benevolent and Fraternal Organizations, Religious Organizations, History of Education, History of Music, Canadian Legion Branch, Youth Organizations, Agricultural Society, Medical History, History of Sports, Anecdotes, and Advertisements. Collectively, these chapters offer a snapshot of Viscount’s early community life and institutions.
