Notes

Photographic documentation of the historic roundup and transfer of the famed Pablo-Allard buffalo herd from Montana to Canada, undertaken after the Canadian government’s 1907 purchase of the herd. Raised by Michel Pablo and Charles Allard on the Flathead Reservation, over 700 bison were gathered by teams of cowboys and driven to the railhead at Ravalli, Montana for shipment north. This viewbook, with images by Norman Luxton, captures scenes from the arduous and now-legendary operation.
