Notes

Situated in the southwest region of Saskatchewan, near the community of Sceptre, the Great Sand Hills form one of Canada’s most distinctive prairie landscapes—a striking expanse of active and stabilized dunes supporting a unique array of plant and animal life.

This comprehensive ecological and land use study was undertaken to document and better understand the natural and human dimensions of the area. Its objectives include the compilation of baseline data on the landforms, ecological systems, resources, and patterns of land use; an examination of how the region’s distinctive physical features influence its ecology and resource potential; and the development of recommendations for environmentally responsible land use and resource management.

The findings and proposals resulting from this research are presented within the report.
