Notes

An examination of how long-term historical, social, and cultural forces produced deep-rooted problems within the Fringe Saulteaux community of the Kamsack area in eastern Saskatchewan. Drawing on reconstructed community history, Mitsuru Shimpo and Robert Williamson show that present-day social conditions are the outcome of sustained disruption rather than sudden failure. The study rejects quick fixes, arguing that understanding the past is essential to grasping the persistence of Indigenous social crises and avoiding their repetition.
