Notes

“Semper in Excreta” was a periodical published by the Saskatchewan Press Club. The magazine took a satirical, irreverent, and humorous approach to news media publishing in Saskatchewan. Issues included tongue-in-cheek recollections of life in the press, roasts of well-known figures, hapless out-of-context quotes by politicians, risqué advertising, and a “newsmaker of the year” award. This issue’s satirical content covers the University of Regina’s 1974 independence from the University of Saskatchewan, Allen Blakeney’s New Democrats (reelected soon after publication), and biographies of H. A. Crittenden and Virginia Hill.
