Notes

History of the southwestern Saskatchewan community of Estuary, located on a former Canadian Pacific Railway branch line between Bassano, Alberta and Swift Current, near the junction of the Red Deer and South Saskatchewan rivers.

Drawing on newspaper accounts, local histories, published sources, and interviews with former residents, Wardill reconstructs the rise and decline of a prairie town that once counted some 800 inhabitants. While biographical sketches appear, the work is not arranged as a collection of family histories. Appendices include a transcription of burials at Westerham Cemetery, a partial list of pupils of the Estuary school, and an extensive bibliography, together with other notes on the community and its institutions.
