An expanded successor to the 1985 edition of Prairie to Wheatfields, this volume offers an updated and enlarged community history of Elrose, a Saskatchewan town located south of Rosetown and north of Swift Current. The work opens with a history of the Rural Municipality of Fairview No. 258, followed by concise essays on regional health care, the Golden Years Lodge, the Memorial Hall, local businesses, the school, area churches, clubs and organizations, and sports and recreation.
Additional sections provide brief historical sketches of neighbouring points and former settlements—including Hughton, Wartime, Gunworth, Mondu, and Lille—as well as accounts of the surrounding school districts (Sunny Bank, East Gap, Windy Plain, Orvill, Hester, Poplar Butte, Milan, Coteau View, Ivor, and Ypres) and notes on the Weitzen Farm and the Tezorton and Alford post offices.
As with many community histories, the bulk of the volume is devoted to family histories contributed by residents and former residents. The book includes an Honour Roll and a listing of those interred in the Elrose Cemetery.
