Notes

From Manitoba Museum "The Poplar River Anishinaabe Plant Guide was created by compiling the work of Tracy Ruta,a graduate student at the University of Manitoba, and knowledge keepers, Victor Bruce, Esther Berens, Evelyn Bruce, and Minnie Mason from Poplar River First Nation. This edition of the guide is part of the Nametwaawin: Land and Language outreach project and was produced in partnership with the Pimachiowin Aki Corporation, specifically Ray Rabliauskas, Norway Rabliauskas, and Sophia Rabliauskas, who shared additional information and reviewed the Anishinaabemowin text.

The late Roger Roulette, an Anishinaabe linguist and knowledge keeper, also provided the translated text as seen alongside every plant description.
The guide takes its reader through the diverse landscapes of the Poplar River area, such as the poplar woods, the riverside habitat, the open fields, and the high rocky land. It also highlights photo identification and details the traditional use of each plant found in these areas. "
