A collection of papers presented at the Plain as the Eye Can See Public Forum/Conference, held in Regina, Saskatchewan, 15–17 May 2003, examining ecological change across the Canadian Prairie Ecozone. The contributors explore the interaction of natural, social, human, and manufactured capital in prairie conservation and landscape management, with chapters addressing agricultural sustainability, rural communities, biodiversity, watershed management, climate change, migratory waterfowl, forage systems, and native insect fauna. Drawing on perspectives from ecology, geography, environmental science, and policy, the volume considers the effects of historical land use and contemporary environmental change on prairie ecosystems and their management.
