Notes

This volume provides a survey of Saskatchewan’s geology with particular emphasis on the province’s economic resources. The opening section presents an overview of the geological framework, with separate discussions of the Precambrian Shield of the north, the Phanerozoic sedimentary rocks underlying the southern two-thirds of the province, and the Quaternary deposits left by glacial activity. The second half of the book is devoted to economic geology, divided between energy resources—oil, natural gas, and coal—and mineral resources. The latter includes detailed treatment of potash and uranium, along with summaries of fifteen additional mineral commodities found within the province.
