Notes

The Abstract reads "... The first report is Gary Adams' Writing On Stone N.W.M.P. Post : An Archaeological Interpretation, field work done in 1973 and 1974. A survey of the site located eleven buildings and a number of miscellaneous features ; this in turn led to complete excavation of the barracks and a partial uncovering of the barn. Analysis of the artifacts recovered present a detailed picture of activity in and around the main building.
The second section, by Michael Forsman and Shelia Minni, is entitled Report on the Fall Archeological Investigation of the North West Mounted Police Post at Writing On Stone Provincial Park, Alberta. This work deals with the investigation of known structures and a continued search for unrecorded features. Most of the data involves materials and methods used in the construction of a pole horse shelter and four dugout storage facilities, with information on decorative and functional features of the barracks. Also included is an analysis of bottle bases recovered in 1973, 1974 and 1975.
