Notes

In this volume, William Robert Nelson Blair (former head of the University of Calgary's Department of Psychology) chronicles the work of Dr. George Lorne Cooke as a general practitioner in Lloydminster from 1912 until his retirement in 1979. Using interviews and anecdotes, the book traces the changing story of practicing medicine over a sixty-year period, bridging rural pioneer practice and urban medical institutions. The book is also indirectly a history of Lloydminster's growth as a city, as Cooke served as its mayor in the 1930s and 1940s. Large photographs of Cooke and Lloydminster appear throughout the text. Laid in is a small, typed sheet summarizing the book's contents, authorship, and funding.
