Notes

A Too Short Yesterday records Annie Elizabeth May Hewlett’s experiences in Canada from 1911 to 1925, beginning with reflections on her life in England and her journey to Canada by ship and across the country by train. She describes her years as a schoolteacher in Denton, Alberta, before moving to Cannington Manor, Saskatchewan, following her marriage to Arthur Hewlett. The greater part of the book concerns her life at Cannington Manor, where she records daily events and observations of family, friends, neighbours, and acquaintances. Written as a series of diary-like vignettes.
