A Tiny Prairie Cathedral: A Phoenix Arises is a modest booklet outlining the spiritual and historical context of Medicine Lodge Coulee, a site traditionally associated with First Nations Sun Dance ceremonies. The coulee lies within the Eagle Butte district, where an Anglican congregation later established St. Margaret’s Church. Eagle Butte is situated approximately seventy kilometres southeast of Medicine Hat, at the western margin of the Cypress Hills. While the principal emphasis of the booklet is the history of St. Margaret’s, a short essay is devoted to the earlier ceremonial use of Medicine Lodge Coulee.
