Notes

A collection of reminiscences and anecdotes relating to ranching life in southern Alberta during the era of the open range. Written in a colloquial style, the work draws on the author’s experiences riding the cattle country between the Rocky Mountains and the Saskatchewan border, and from the Sweetgrass Hills northward to the Red Deer River.

The volume records stories associated with round-ups, branding camps, and bunkhouse life, reflecting the activities of cattlemen and horsemen in an unfenced landscape. Based in part on the recollections of early ranch hands known to the author.
