Notes

The Great Canadian Range is a memoir by Philip S. Long, who recounts his experiences as a boy during the years 1917 to 1926, when his father served as general manager of the 50 Mile Ranch, the headquarters of the Saskatchewan operations of the 76 Ranch.

Drawing on childhood memory, Long describes daily life on the range, the routines and challenges of large-scale ranching, and the character of the people who worked the land. Set in southwestern Saskatchewan, the book offers a personal perspective on ranch life in the early twentieth century.
