A reflective memoir and local history set in the rural school district of Avondale, located approximately forty miles southwest of Saskatoon along the Old Bone Trail. Written more than sixty years after the author left the area, the book recalls early settlement life in Saskatchewan from the pre–World War I era through to the early 1930s. Centered on the author’s own youth and the small prairie community in which he was raised, the narrative offers first-hand recollections of pioneering families, everyday life, and the social fabric of a short-lived settlement.
