Notes

A field guide to the flowering plants of the Canadian prairies, prepared by a long-time member of Saskatchewan’s natural history community. In his preface, Carmichael explains that the volume does not attempt comprehensive coverage, but selects the more conspicuous and commonly encountered species, arranging them in approximate order of bloom through the season.

Each entry provides both Latin and common names, with notes on plant height, leaf form, bud and blossom colour, floral structure, fruit where present, and typical habitat. Entries are illustrated with black-and-white photographic plates of each plant.
