Portraits of the Northern Plains: Cowboy Poems is a collection of verse by the Saskatchewan cowboy poet Harvey Mawson(1930–2012), who spent his life in and around the Sandhills near Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Like much of cowboy poetry, these poems celebrate the lives of westerners, touching on the prairie landscape, nature, working life, love, food, and the everyday companions of ranch life—horses, and dogs.
