Notes

Tucked into the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rockies, just east of Jasper National Park, the Coal Branch region stretches from Alberta Highway 16 in the north down to the Brazeau River in the south. Once a hub of coal mining activity, this rugged landscape is laced with the McLeod, Lovett, and Embarras Rivers.
The region was a center of coal mining activity from 1911 until the mid-1950s. Communities, settlements, and mining camps of that era include Bickerdike, McLeod River, Erith, Weald, Embarras, Robb, Coalspur, Diss, Sterco, Foothills, Lovetteville, Mountain Park, Mercoal, Shaw, Leyland, Cadomin, and Luscar. Please note that this volume does not contain family histories from the area.
