Notes

From the Transactions of the Royal Society of Canada, Third Series, Section II, Volume XXXVI. Arthur S. Morton was a professor of History at the University of Saskatchewan as well as the University’s Librarian. In this article, he describes the history of fur trading posts located near Nipawin, Saskatchewan. With reference to archival records created by traders and surveyors, Morton traces the passage of Europeans past Nipawin along the Saskatchewan River as well as their interactions with local First Nations groups. The article spends considerable time exploring the founding, interactions, and residents of trading posts near Nipawin (including the François-Finlay Post and Finlay House) in the late 1700s. Offprint.
