Published to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the first Benedictine monastery in Canada, this volume traces the history of the Order of St. Benedict in the Abbacy Nullius of St. Peter near Muenster, Saskatchewan. The historical narrative is organized according to the tenures of successive superiors—beginning with the first prior and continuing through each successive abbot—providing a structured account of the Abbacy’s development.
The work includes concise biographical sketches of selected clergy, along with notes on the contributions of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth and the Ursuline Nuns. It also documents the many parishes under the care of the Abbacy, including St. Boniface at Leofeld, St. Peter’s Priory and Parish, and others located in communities such as St. Benedict, Middle Lake, Cudworth, Dana, Fulda, Willmont, Marysburg, Pilger, Annaheim, Lake Lenore, Watson, Englefeld, LeRoy, Romance, Naicam, Bruno, Petersen, Humboldt, Carmel, St. Scholastica Mission, St. Gregory, St. Gertrude’s Mission, and St. Patrick’s Mission.
