This work offers a detailed history of the 1885 North-West Resistance. Drawing on a wide range of primary sources, many not previously used in accounts of the uprising, the authors reconstruct the events from multiple perspectives. The narrative makes use of contemporary newspapers, Department of Justice records, manuscripts and diaries, Métis and settler recollections, and the writings of Louis Riel himself, resulting in a thorough and well-documented study of the conflict.
