Notes

Walter Gretzky: On Family, Hockey and Healing is the memoir of Walter Gretzky, father of hockey player Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky recounts his childhood on a family farm, his marriage to Phyllis, and the raising of their five children in Brantford, Ontario, while working as a telephone repairman. He also discusses his involvement in hockey and the development of Wayne’s early career. A substantial portion of the memoir concerns the stroke and aneurysm he suffered in 1991, the resulting cognitive and memory difficulties, and his subsequent rehabilitation. The book includes interviews and recollections from family and friends.
