Biography of Tom Three Persons (1889–1969), Kainai (Blood) rancher, horseman, and rodeo competitor. Drawing on archival sources and oral history, Dempsey traces Three Persons' life from his upbringing on the Blood Reserve in southern Alberta to his celebrated victory in the saddle bronc competition at the inaugural Calgary Stampede of 1912. The work examines his career in ranching and rodeo, and his place within Kainai society.
