Notes

A Saskatchewan women’s periodical issued monthly under the motto “A News Magazine Devoted To The Development Of Better Homes And Better Home Life In Western Canada,” published from its office on Mountain Street, Govan, Saskatchewan. The Western Woman and Rural Home appeared from November 1923 until May 1926, when it was sold to the Leader Publishing Company of Regina and incorporated into Saskatchewan Farmer. The magazine was founded and published by Lawrence B. Latta, with Sam J. Latta serving as editor from the outset and becoming a partner in the enterprise in mid-1924. This November 1924 issue includes articles on needlework, handicrafts, and hair care, along with two serialized works of fiction continued from earlier numbers: one by Cora M. Turrell of Preeceville and a further installment of Robert Stead’s novel Neighbours. Also featured is a reflective essay by Sadie Mazuren of Perdue recalling her mother’s early experiences as a Russian immigrant settler in the Duck Mountain district, alongside shorter pieces and a varied collection of local and national advertising.
