The Doukhobor Dugout House Inc. Memories Album

The Doukhobor Dugout House near Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, preserves the site of one of the earliest Doukhobor settlements established after the community's arrival in Canada in 1899. Built into the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, the dugout houses sheltered hundreds of settlers during their first years in Saskatchewan before they moved into the nearby village of Oospenie.

Produced as a commemorative keepsake of the historic site, this illustrated booklet outlines the history of the original settlement, the archaeological investigations undertaken at the site, and the efforts to preserve the dugout houses and their associated artifacts. It also records the work of the volunteers and descendants who helped establish the site as a Provincial Heritage Property and later a National Historic Site of Canada.
