Thchq Ewo Konihmbaa : The Dogrib Caribou Skin Lodge

Thchq Ewo Konihmbaa: The Dogrib Caribou Skin Lodge was published in conjunction with a 1998 exhibition at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife. The pamphlet documents a caribou-skin lodge purchased by Frank Russell in 1893 during his expedition to collect natural history specimens for the University of Iowa. In 1997, the lodge was returned to the Dogrib Nation, the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, and the people of the Northwest Territories by the University of Iowa's Natural History Museum. The text provides background on Russell and his expedition, as well as the construction, design, decoration, raising, and tanning of caribou hides used in the lodge.
