Stu Hart was a central figure in the development of professional wrestling in western Canada. Raised in Saskatchewan and later based in Alberta, he came to prominence as an amateur wrestler before turning professional after the Second World War. He eventually established Stampede Wrestling in Alberta, building a regional promotion that became closely associated with Calgary and the wider Prairie wrestling scene.
In Stu Hart: Lord of the Ring, Marsha Erb examines Hart’s life and career through biographical research and interviews with Hart himself. The book considers his early life, wrestling career, promotion of Stampede Wrestling, and role as a trainer, as well as the development of the Hart family within the Calgary wrestling community.
