Notes

A study of the social and cultural history of Mennonite women in Canada over approximately two centuries. The work examines women’s roles within family, church, and community life, as well as their participation in migration, settlement, education, and labour. Attention is given to both prescribed roles and lived experience, drawing on a wide range of sources including personal writings, oral histories, and material culture.

Epp considers the diversity of Mennonite communities, with particular focus on settlements in Ontario and the Manitoba plains, tracing developments from nineteenth-century immigration through the later twentieth century.
