Notes

The Homemakers’ Clubs of Saskatchewan, organized in 1911 under the direction of the University of Saskatchewan, were formed to provide rural women with education, mutual support, and opportunities for community service. The organization focused on homemaking, health, education, and rural improvement. In 1972 the Homemakers’ Clubs were succeeded by the Saskatchewan Women’s Institutes.

This volume presents a chronological history of the organization from 1911 to 1988, outlining its development, activities, and leadership. It includes lists of past presidents, a register of known local branches of the Association of Homemakers’ Clubs of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Women’s Institutes, brief histories of branches active at the time of publication, and records of competition winners and related organizational details.
