To commemorate the province's Jubilee Year the pupils of Hanley high school compiled a history of the town. Much of the book focuses on the early days; poor weather and associated difficulties, the railway, agriculture and original residents. Included are hand-drawn maps of original 1902 town site and business district in 1955.
