Notes

Gravy Train: How Saskatchewan Taxpayers Are “Ripped Off” by Its Cabinet Ministers and MLAs! was published in 1982 by Frederick Lorne Dunbar, a former member of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF). At the time of writing, Dunbar described himself as a thirty-year member of the Progressive Conservative Party, for which he stood unsuccessfully as a candidate in three provincial general elections. In this polemical work, the author scrutinizes the conduct of members of the Saskatchewan Legislature, arguing that taxpayers are entitled to far greater transparency with respect to legislators’ salaries, expense accounts, and pension arrangements.
