Notes

Memoir of RCMP officer Edgar A. Kuhn recounting his posting to the High Arctic settlement of Grise Fiord on the south coast of Ellesmere Island from 1958 to 1960. Kuhn, a Saskatchewan native who joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1952, describes daily life and police work in one of Canada’s most remote communities, including relations with Inuit residents, the challenges of climate and isolation, and the practical realities of Arctic service during the mid–twentieth century.
