Celebrating Life: The Art of Doris McCarthy was published in conjunction with exhibitions held at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the Art Gallery of Mississauga during November and December 1999. The volume considers McCarthy’s life and work through essays by Stuart Reid and William Moore, while Rob Freeman compiled a chronological account of the artist’s life and a bibliography. Lynne Atkinson selected the photographs reproduced in the book. Published in 1999, the volume serves as a retrospective survey of McCarthy’s career, bringing together biographical material, critical essays, photographs, and bibliographical information.
