Two early issues of Canadian Cattlemen: the Souvenir Inaugural Issue (June 1938) and Vol. 1, No. 2 (September 1938). At this stage a quarterly periodical edited by Kenneth Coppock and published in Calgary, Alberta, with an announced circulation of 8,000 copies per issue. Issued as “Edited for the Western Stock Growers Association” and promoted as the official organ of the Western Canadian commercial cattle industry. Content focuses primarily on Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, with occasional contributions from eastern Canada.
