The Zanzibar Cat is a collection of science fiction short stories. Originally released in 1983, this volume marked Russ’s debut compilation of short fiction.

The anthology features several award-winning pieces, including “When It Changed,” which earned the Nebula Award in 1972, and “Old Thoughts, Old Balances,” a story recognized with a 1977 O. Henry Prize when published under the title “The Autobiography of My Mother.”
